How'd it End up Here?

What is this tenderness that strengthens the heart
while in pain grows
and fire consumes
leaving ash
spiraling
winds?

What is this strength that softens the face
when laughter blooms
and moistens toes
like due
penetrating
skin?

What is this speechlessness that quiets a kiss
when sight left blind
and nothing knows
but truth
waiting
again?

The actor reminisces of loves lost
and falls to a seat in tears flow
this present
this gift
begging some power
not to be taken
begging some
words to be written
spoken
but action.

May pains be swift
of sicknessess and
mistakes yet made
to return again
to the answer
this poem bade
its just love
but not again
like the dirty roots the tree
the hidden place fallen waste
seen in shadow a joke and smile
laughter and friendship
companionship forever.

For years, I have given chase
For a love that stays
From a lover I can trustingly embrace
Who loves me in a thousand different ways.

I want a person who has much grace
With a character that conveys
That strength and kindness are in place
Together with love that never betrays.

In you I have found such a person, such a gift...
